    Shannon Sidwell

  • Hi.

    Nice to meet you. My name is Shannon Sidwell. I am a personal trainer and online/in person group fitness instructor. I have been in the health and fitness field for nearly 22 years and love just as much as the day I taught my first step aerobics class in college.

    Background.

    I have been an athlete since childhood, I was inspired by my parents - my father an college All American football player; my mother a practicing Buddhist and yoga teacher. My family taught me of the powerful connection between the physical self, the mind and the spirit, while also inspiring a great love for anything physical. I have spent my entire career working to inspire this love of movement in my students and clients. And, in the process, helped them reach their fitness goals.

    While working the the corporate world just out of college, I began a distance running career that ultimately brought me to my personal training career and I have completed 26 marathons since 1999. After suffering a serious running injury that sidelined me from movement altogether, I discovered Pilates and used the method to rehabilitate myself. This introduction to the Pilates Method further solidified my belief that movement can change your entire perspective on life. I went on to obtain my classical Pilates certification and later became certified to teach the Lagree Method I currently teach in Denver. I am also certified through NASM, AFAA, Maddog Athletics Cycling and Versaclimber.

    Philosophy.

    My philosophy is that no matter how young or how old, no matter your circumstance, we have choices in how to meet life’s challenges. My sense of purpose has enabled me to overcome many difficult situations using movement as my vehicle and I have helped countless others to do the same. I believe in the power that exercise has to change people’s lives. My goal in every teaching opportunity to provide students with an uplifting experience, to put a smile on their face, to cultivate the skills to tackle the struggles in their day or even the deeper struggles in their lives. And my personal goals, values and mission are to help others cultivate a positive mindset, wellness, health and movement in to their lives.

    One-On-One Personal Training

    IN PERSON

    45-50 min dedicated to you and your specific goals. My personal training sessions are designed for each individual based on your body’s needs and your goals. Each session will include a warm up, workout and cool down. These one-on-ones are dedicated entirely to the individual and aim to create balance and strength in the body. $90/session Call or email for scheduling and details.

    Small Group Fitness Classes

    in person 3+

    These sessions are designed much like the personal training workouts In duration and format, but take into account each client’s individual needs and fitness levels of each clients. I love training small groups because it so much fun to workout with a group, inspires healthy competition and at the same time camaraderie and embraces the community aspect of fitness that keeps people invested and coming back for more. $40 per person / session (two people). $35 per person / session (groups of 3 more more).     Small Group Fitness Classes via Zoom

    LIVE zoom classes + Video workout library

    Online, at home, wherever, whenever! Home personal training made simple. I offer 7 small group personal training live workouts a week and a video library of over 150 prerecorded workouts for any ability and fitness level. The live workouts include individualized instruction and cueing as well as the community feel that you would get in small group personal training session. Each workout varies in duration and type and will challenge you with the same intensity as being live and in person. Can’t make the live workout happen, become a member of our virtual tribe and have access to any type of workout you’re looking for (HIIT, strength based, arms and abs, Pilates and mobility). Gold ($180/mo) or Silver ($100/mo) membership required.

    Lagree Method

    I teach the The Lagree Method at two of Denver’s premiere studios. This workout combines cardio, balance, flexibility, core work and overall strength. I teach Tuesdays and Fridays at noon at Lagreeluxe.com and Thursdays at 6 and 7 am as well as Saturdays at 7:30 and 8:30 am at pilatesevolutioncolorado.com

    Overcoming Old Injuries

    GETTING Back on the bike.

    After years of competitive bicycle racing, and the associated wrecks, I was left with multiple back, shoulder, and elbow injuries. Finally, near continuous back spasms took me off the bike completely. In a single session, Shannon identified the most immediate of my issues, how it was resulting in back spasms, and the exercises to address it. With her in-depth knowledge of biomechanics, Shannon was able to understand how old injuries limit my range of motion and to prescribe specific isometrics and strength-building exercises to help me overcome these injuries. She continued to challenge and encourage me to improve until I was able to return to riding and competing on the bike. I no longer race, but continue to train with Shannon to stay fit and keep the nagging injuries at bay.

She is solid in her commitment to every single class, she has such thought out playlists where every single song is deliberate and perfect.
